Psychology Work Experience Placements

Jill Said:

Help with my Yr 10 Work Experience?

We Answered:

It is very hard to get a work experience placement in year 10 because of problems with insurance and confidentiality if patients are involved. Perhaps working in a school or care home will help you. It will show that you can work with people who are demanding physically and mentally. This will help when deciding on courses and year 12 work placements.

Work placements relating to psychology?

We Answered:

The most ‘ideal’ placement/‘relevant experience’ would be in a (NHS) mental health setting (for instance adult mental health, child & family, older adults, learning disabilities, neuropsychology etc) and be directly supervised by a qualified clinical psychologist.

Your university should be able to advise you further and may be could provide you with a few contacts through the psychology department. It might also be worth speaking to students (with similar interests) who have already completed placements in the past.
