will the BBC let me do some work experience during the holidays for thier radio department? We Answered:
TheMask I would go over to the station and ask in person. Ask for the station manager. The worst that could haappen is he would say no.*

I have emailed and written to many radio stations regarding work experience and none have replyed. ?We Answered:
Getting into radio is competitive. I think it's wrong that no one has bothered even replying, but it may be that your approach needs refining. Here are some tips from my experience in radio:1. Make sure it's clear what you want to do in radio. Do you want to be on air, or produce programmes, or be in sales or marketing or on the technical side? If that's not clear, then no one will have a clue what you're after.
2. If you want to be on air, a demo recording is much more important than a letter. You'll need to produce one to show that you are talented and entertaining on the radio.
3. People in radio are passionate about it. If you can show that you're similarly passionate, then that can help. Explain why you want to work in radio, what kind of radio you enjoy, what radio means to you.
4. If you haven't already, get some experience in a hospital, community or college radio station.
5. As with any letter asking for work, make sure your letter looks smart, is written in good English, is courteous and succinct, and is addressed to a named individual (a simple phone call to the station will get you the name and job title of the Programme Controller or Programme Director at the station).
Hope that helps. Good luck.

Work experience on the radio for 6th formers? We Answered:
get your CV together with a letter really selling yourself and what it would mean to you to get a work experience placement there and what you would hope to gain from it - make it really tailored to the people there - pick a specific person to address it to - ie head of HR or even particular presenter that you think might be interested.BUT - be aware that loads of people will want to do work experience there as it would be very exciting etc so you need to make your application stand out! (don't forget to include a photo so that they can picture you!)
IF YOU REALLY WANT THEM TO NOTICE YOU! - Hand deliver it with a box of lovely cupcakes, or printing it on special (not just bright) paper, attach balloons to it, if you know a presenter loves something in particular - ie bacon sandwiches from a particular deli or sweets that can oly be bought in a certain place - send it with that!
Make your application more interesting and special than all the others that will arrive on their doormat at this time of year!

doing work experience in a radio station-any advice, hints? We Answered:
Biggest thing is to try stations removed from the major markets...Depending upon the station, those that are outside of arbitron rated cities are usually sat fed or local content.. and the local content stations are always looking for a fresh voice. I've even heard a few high numbered arbitron radio markets do on air solicitations for air talent already.
But usually Board operations is the main key... must know how to do it as I've been offered a few gigs that required no on air but sit back and listen to a sports game and make the right switches as their automation was on the fritz.
Another thing is to troll Radio-info.com, radioinsight.com and depending upon your format choices, some of the boards there like allaccess.com and allaboutcountry.com

im 14 in year 10 and gotta do work experience in july tv & radio interests me, something in media, suggest pls?We Answered:
You do not say where you are living, so it is hard to give any good specific answers, only general ones.Write to your local TV station several months in advance and ask if they are willing to take you on as a "work experiance" person for the two weeks. Similarly with the radio stations and even with newspapers.
Are you interested in journalism, or some other aspect of the media -- advertising, studio camera work, news camera work, tape editing, lighting, makeup, wardrobe or what. Be specific in your letter, and include a copy of your school grades.
I always try to steer girls away from being TV journalists as they always have the reputation of "sleeping with the bosses for promotions".
