Yes, my school took on TY students for their 2 wk placement, but only as assistants to the teachers or SNAs. You have to have a 2-yr qualification now to become a qualified SNA, so you won't be given their duties, but you may be allowed to shadow one or help a teacher in the classroom. You should never be left on your own in a classroom, it's against all sorts of rules and regulations.

Going to a primary school is the best craic ever and you actually do learn alot. Had 4th year work experience last year and a primary school was one of my choices. The teacher might give you a chance to teach the class too. You could go for a bookshop or a library if yur interested in books?
