Where Can I Get Work Experience

Rachel Said:

I'm a stay at home mom with little work experience. Where should I look for a job?

We Answered:

I would check the newspaper or internet. Try http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/ You can go to your city and state and look for jobs in any field. If anything you might have to start out at the bottom of the totem pool until you get more experience. You can also take online schooling part time. I am 29 with a 12 yr old and a 9 mon old and I just graduated with only a certificate after a year but with my job I can start out at $15/hr at least. I went for Medical Administrative Assistant. You should check that out. Plus you will get financial aid from the government. I didn't pay anything for school. If you need more info please email me. Thanks and Good Luck!

My GPA is 2.75 (B- at SUNY Albany) GMAT 470 and 2 years work experience. Where can I got for MBA??

We Answered:

Unfortunately, when you've got low stats in all three of the major areas business schools look at, "better than DeVry" is a relative term. Is there anything exceptional about your work experience or community service that might help compensate for the amount of time you've been out of school? Can you take the GMAT again? Do you absolutely have to apply this year, or can you get another year or two of work experience and consider some continuing education courses to balance out the GPA?

Will someone from London give me a job or at least some voluntary work experience in iT?

We Answered:

I'm sure that some charity or political campaign would love to have you volunteer. Try it. Since I don't know London that well, (I was there for a week, years ago) I can't help you further.

So, pick your favorite cause and as them if they will take you on.

Where to get Work Experience to become a UK Barrister?

We Answered:

For work experience, try writing to a local solicitors firm. Chambers are relatively few and far between outside London, and are rarely willing to take on pre-university level students for work experience.

For yourself, if you've got time and a court centre near by, you could sit in the public gallery and see a few cases. At this stage you'd probably find it rather boring, however Court staff are usually helpful to people taking an interest.

Bear in mind that, as things currently stand, you've got a less than 1/4 chance of actually succeeding in your goal. The Bar is massively over subscribed, as I know only too well...
