There are a number of USA companies (like Disney World) that offer temporary employment opportunities for international visitors. The company sponsors your work visa and pays you enough money (for working) to live on for the duration of your visit - it would also give you time to look for long-term employment if you decide to stay for a year.

Search "international exchange programs" and you should find several links.

Also check with American companies (including hotel chains) with branches in the UK, and local companies with offices in the USA. You may be able to apply for jobs in the USA without leaving home.

Hi, some of the girls in my travel and tourism class got to do work experience at a travel agents but this happened through the college instead of the girls asking themselves. How old are you? As the girls were 16/17 at the time of work experience. The best thing to do is to ask a travel agents if they accept work experience people. If they do then ask what do you need to do next, do you need to fill out any forms, etc. Make sure you know the dates of the work experience as you will need these. =)

I think you will have to contact a travel agent, inbound and out bound tour operators and do internship with them to gain knowledge and experience. Travel it self is a very vague word, once you are in to it there are unlimited areas and services to be offered.

I don't intend to be mean, but seriously reconsider your career choice. The travel industry (particularly travel agents) is a dying industry. Most people book their own accommodations and air fare on line directly.

I would definitely recommend Australia. It is a vast country with lots of options and work opportunities (in terms of casual labor and part time jobs). My recommendation would be to travel before the summer period (November - February) as employers seek out casual labourers during this time.

Taking this visa will allow you to travel Australia and later on if you want the option, Asia. Other countries in South East Asia is only a 8-9 hour plane ride away. With several budget airlines you will be able to travel cheap.
