Work Experience At Magazines

Alicia Said:

What do i have to do to do my work experience at sugar magazine?

We Answered:

Hi,

First of all, are you still at school or are you 18?
If your doing your year 10 work experience I don’t know for definite if they will allow it. :S Although it’s always worth the try.
I’m an aspiring Journalist also, and from experience I have had to wait till I was 18 to get into editorial departments in publications.
If your 18, email general enquiries and send a well written, formal email outlining why you wish to do your work experience there and what your aspirations are. That is the general gist of what to include (but don’t ramble), and it is more or less what I wrote when I applied for work experience.
Really hope that helps, if you need any more advice just let me know. :)

How do I get work experience at a magazine?

We Answered:

Call them!!! or Email them. Calling is better though.

A lot of big companies (including magaines and big brands) have programs for work experience people as they always have a lot of applicants. You should call whoever you are interested in, google their site for details, and tell them you are a student looking to do a week or so of work experience and you are interested in their company. Ask them if they have temporary positions available for this.

I have heard of lots of people doing work experience at magazines before, I'm sure there are lots of opportunities. =)

If you cant find contact details, let me know which magazines you are intersted in and I'll see if I can help.

Which magazines give 15 year olds work experience?

We Answered:

No magazine will EVER hire you, unless you're looking to deliver their mail!!

If you seriously want to work for a magazine, call them and ask what they look for in a candidate, then go to college and study whatever they say they require.

If you want to write, take writing courses, if you want to work the business end, take business courses, if you want to shoot people, take photography, just ask them what they need you to do in order to get in the front door.

Once you are in college, most magazines will hire you as an intern to gain experience before you hit the job market.

Applying for work experience at a magazine.?

We Answered:

You can probably get some type of assistant job.

Call the magazine and speak to the human resources department. You can usually find their contact information on one of the first few pages of the magazine (usually the index page) at the bottom in small print.

As them what jobs or apprenticeships might be available for someone your age and who should you apply to.
