If you can add some more information it would help, and by the way, its not a great idea to go along with a mate.....it makes it look like you wouldn't be able to cope alone, and need someone to hold your hand.

This depends on what sort of work you want to gain experience in. You say you've tried all of the hospitals, but there is a wide range of occupations in the medical services, so it's hard to tell from that what you're after.

Shops are usually good for work experience, and you could look at shops that sell products that you might want to work with, for example if you are interested in music, you could look at a shop that sells either CDs or one that sells musical instruments.
If you want to go into the building trade, then you could look at merchants that supply builders, look at the shops in your locality, and see if there are any there that might be connected with a career that you are interested in, and see if they can help you.

or search for 'west midlands' instead of birmingham.

if you find you can travel further out you will have more opportunity to get the work experience you would like.

also consider - dairy farm, abbatoir, sheep farm, meat cattle farm....

I went to a school and loved it, shops are usually happy for people to do their work experience there.. see if any one in your family could get you a placement where they work. thats usually the easiest way. : )
