Where to work in Europe as a backpacker?

We Answered:

Hello,

Have you thought about being an English teacher - there is a demand in Germany for them - and I could give you some contact numbers if you wish to come here.

You will need a visa though - unless you have an European passport.

The work is freelance - so there is no big commitment on time or contract!

Plus the money is not so bad!

Rafael Said:

Has anyone had experience getting a work visa in Europe?

We Answered:

I have a work visa for Italy that I got several years ago. It took about 8 months to get the paperwork for the visa and I already had a job in place here. In my case, the company did help; it wasn't difficult since this was a transfer within the company.

Right now, there are very few jobs available in Italy; if you're not an EU citizen it will be difficult for you to find work. You cannot apply directly for a work permit - the company has to do that. Further, hiring a non-EU citizen has to be justified. You would need special skills or experience that aren't readily available from someone that has the right to live and work here. Some jobs are legally limited to EU citizens since it would not be possible to show special knowledge or skill not available - for example, au pair.

You can find visa information and applications for Italy here: http://www.esteri.it/visti/index_eng.asp

The expat websites are good resources for doing research on this type of move:

What would a person with a Phd. in aerospace engineering, and 4 years work experience make in Germany/Europe?

We Answered:

Likely only if someone over there offered him a job first, because he had some skill that couldn't be found among the Europeans. They've got laws giving their own nationals preference that have teeth, and they don't ignore them as much as we do.

21 year old female looking for work/life experience abroad this summer in Europe? Where to search for jobs?

We Answered:

Try searching "Work in France" and "Work in Italy". You should find a wealth of sites...but you want to be sure you can trust them...Better Business Bureau or something like that, once you find some that you think you'd like to check out.

CIEE can be trusted...if they find you something, they'll make sure you are legal and all that.

Same with EF.

It's their business...placing people, so their reputations are important to them.

Irene Said:

hi.is there any good b-school in uk,usa, europe, australia which requires no work experience to get into them.?

We Answered:

If you're talking about graduate-level business school programs, good ones worldwide typically require you to have work experience before you are admitted.

MBA programs that routinely take people straight out of undergrad are basically diploma mills where the students learn nothing from each other. The value of the degree suffers accordingly.

If you are talking about undergraduate business schools, your question is entirely different. What do you want to accomplish?
