What jobs are available for teenagers with little work experience?

We Answered:

You're going to have to apply to fast food places, also try department stores and discount stores like Wal-mart. Those types of places are usually willing to take a chance on a younger person. Just apply to everywhere that lets you and take what's offered to you. Sadly, that's just the type of work that teenagers can get, but you are the one who makes it a positive or negative experience.

What's the best way to get a good summer job for a teenager with no work experience?

We Answered:

There are several good summer jobs that don't involve slaving away at a fast food joint! Grocery stores tend to pay fairly well as a first time job and they are always willing to hire young people, regardless of experience. Working as a cashier is a great way to develop people skills and get experience handling money, which are skills future employers will be interested in.
If the grocery store route isn't for you, large hardware stores tend to be a well-paying place to work; although, many require you be 18 to be employed.
Also, look for places in your area that need additional summer employees, swimming pool supply stores are a definite choice, stores in shopping malls or busy shopping centers, or anywhere you think might see a big boost in business from all the kids being out of school. You may be hired as just a seasonal employee, but inform them that you'd be interested in staying on after the summer has ended (if you are) and, if they have room, they may keep you.
Just get out there and start filling out applications, the more you fill out, the more options you;ll end up with! :)

Work experience for teenagers?

We Answered:

so try going through your local yellow pages, and finding boarding kennels, dog breeders etc, write to them,a lot of these places will take on people for work experience,or buy Our Dogs/Dog World papers, out every week, they quite often have job oppurtunitys,or courses with relevant certificates you may need to become groomer, trainer etc,
tons of luck though, and well done for taking the initiative yourself

What places would hire a teenager that has no work experience?

We Answered:

Unfortunately, as the job market has gotten worse and worse, more adults are taking the jobs that used to be considered "for teenagers". It is going to be harder for your son to find a job because there are now grown-ups with lots of experience that were layed off from their jobs of 10 yrs out looking for work again too. So even places like Taco Bell now have experienced older workers applying, along with teenagers with no experience. Who do you think they are more likely to hire? My 18 year old brother is right where your son is at. He can't find a job to save his life around here. He thinking about moving closer Dallas (nearest big city) with some family just to try to find work. Tell your son to just be patient and not give up. Follow every lead and be willing to do just about any work, no matter what kind of crap job it it. When he finds a job, tell him to hold on to it!! Try fast food places, ect.....but also more menial places, that might need a good strong back more than know-how.
