To rachael - the questioner said year 10 not 10 year old, in the UK that means you're 14/15 years old. Read the question before you make such comments!

To answer your question, Im not sure whether you can get a placement at this age. On placement you may witness distressing things, its up to the hospital to decide whether to give you a placement and its partly a legal thing. I'm not saying you can't, you'll have to ask your hospital to find out. I know in year 12 and 13, its not a problem.
I am 100% certain that St Peter's hospital in Chertsey, Surrey has a programme, its 3 days and you'll rotate I think A + E, Orthopaedics and surgery. I checked on their site tho, the minimum age is 16.

Its been a while since I went on work experience so I cant remember who you go to. Your best bet will be to ask reception or voluntary services at your hospital about work experience, be a good idea to tell em your age too in case that might be a problem. Alternatively, your school can arrange it I'm sure, my 6th form did it for our students (i didnt go by this route, I did it on my own).

The shop floor mean actually working in the shop, this could be tidying/stacking shelves or taking the money. The stockroom would probably mean working behind the scenes unloading deliveries and checking stock.

Work on a building site with some real men, or an engineering plant (if there is such a thing in the UK anymore).I worked on a building site, then worked for the same firm over the summer...you'll get nice muscles and will impress the ladies

charity shops or maybe as a slight possibilty the town hall or someone who orginises events for bedford, to get some benifit for something like poverty... i have no idea AJ... you would make this complicated for yourself ;)
