Work Experience Graduate

Shane Said:

Can you use work experience less than 1 year for graduate school application?

We Answered:

Hi Naia.

Any recognised and reputed institute would not just listen or believe without a certificate or recommendation from authorised person or institution.

As far as your tutoring and temporary teaching after high school is concerned you should not provide this in your application, but instead you can add this up during interview to elaborate your skills and capabilities.

But you should include the 2-month internship at a research center for your undergraduate degree, since that is related academically and with a certified proof as well, I suppose.

So go ahead and prosper. Regards.

Jane Said:

Would you rather graduate at 25 with no experience or graduate at 27 with more work experience?

We Answered:

25 and 27 are both late for graduating college and the type of experience you can get without a BA/BS isn't necessarily that helpful.

EVERYONE should get significant internship/office work experience before graduating college. This is easier to come by in Manhattan, but many students also work in the summer in NYC before returning to their small town universities. Living in a small town is no excuse for not having work experience.

I would go with the one that is more financially sound. If you're deciding between instate at University of Indiana and NYU, go to U of I and try to get summer internships at NY firms.

Talking about today's economy seems a bit silly to me because if you are asking this question you must be 2+ years from graduation and in a few years the economy will be different.
