Anybody know anything to do with History for work experience?

We Answered:

I'm sure you could wrap a job as a clerk in a public Library around your history enthusiasm. Have you considered being a tour guide at some historical site in your area? Many communities offer tours of historical homes. No doubt you could do that with a short tutorial on the subject material. Often state parks have programs that include short historical lectures. How about a clerk's job in an area Travel and Tourism department. Local Chamber of Commerce? Some communities and some state parks have historical pageants that require people dressed in period costume to give lectures. Check you area.
All of these positions could have a historical flavor to them. Just let your interviewer know what your interests are and the experience that you are looking for. Good Luck

Danny Said:

What do you do when you need a job but you have no work history or experience?

We Answered:

Hmmm.

Community service. What exactly did that involve? What were you doing?

You need to make the most of what you have, so go over your past efforts and pick apart the details. If it was something like helping in an office, what exactly did you do? If you did data entry - what specifically were you doing. Was it customer orders? Taking payments by phone? Updating the customer data and helping to create a mailing list for a promotion or project?

Be specific! Make the most of what you have. Learn what the best resumes look like...you can find all sorts of info online.

It can also help to get your foot in the door by volunteering in a place you would like to work. Most places now aren't advertising because of costs, and because they are in need of one person, and 850 or more apply. They can't handle that, so they pick and choose.

Put yourself out there, be friendly, connect with people and quietly, in general conversation, let them know you are in need of a job. Most people, will help you out if they can.

Good Luck!!

Nancy Said:

What do I put under Work History if I have no work experience?

We Answered:

Delete that section entirely, that way it is not blank.

Francisco Said:

in a resume is it ok to have a work history section and a experience section?

We Answered:

Always, always, include all relevant achievements in writing a resume; it has always been good practice to take note of breakthroughs and "home runs" that you have done in your previous jobs. Showcase them and place them on the top, this is like showing off your trophies thereby implying that you possess great skills by achieving these accomplishments.
