Navjot is right. You need to have at least some sort of relevant work experience in order to get a good job, especially one in Finance. An MBA will help out but it's no substitute for qualified experience. Very few financial institutions will place someone in a prominent role (manager, director, administrator) with them just having an MBA. They're always people who had either experience within the company or come from another.

Try interning at any financial institution if you can. Or try getting an entry level job while you're finishing your MBA. Those two procedures will help get you that much needed experience.

I would definitely talk about it and what you learned, etc. but you don't have to say it was voluntary if you don't think that would be beneficial. If they ask then tell the truth and make sure they know that you did it for free because you value experience and learning and were willing to work hard even though you weren't financially compensated.

Though I cannot provide any insight as you requested experience, but what I offer is this: I'm 24 and finish my first undergraduate degree next year while working in a fortune 200 company. I also hate it.

If I were you with the chance to join as an officer, I would do it without hesitation (in the AF). The other branches would require some investigation.

Can't help you since I live in the States, but have to say I like your nontraditional way of trying to find employment in a field you want. Keep at it.

Probably, although it might help to have it. MBA programs really want job experience, but ask around in more serious places than herre on the MS(F)
