Work Experience In Pr

Ana Said:

is work experience count for PR in bridging visa E?

We Answered:

Whatever are you talking about? A Bridging Visa E is only granted while while you are waiting for Ministerial Intervention in your case and it's difficult to see what work experience has to do with that?

If you're asking about obtaining Permission to Work while on a Bridging Visa E; in some circumstances, you can apply on form 1005 to change your Bridging visa conditions to permit you to work but you will need to demonstrate a ‘compelling need to work’, as well as satisfy the department you have an ‘acceptable reason for delay' in applying for a Protection visa. If your request for Ministerial intervention is a repeat request, you are unlikely to be granted PTW.

Willie Said:

How much work experience should I have done before applying for Uni?

We Answered:

Work experience in a law firm would definitely be a good idea. It would do a lot more than just help you get onto a law course at uni - it would also help you decide whether you want to be a lawyer and, if so, what kind of lawyer. It will also be very useful later on down the line when you're applying for jobs - a lot of people leave it till much later to do any work experience, and you'd have a big advantage over them. It might even be worth doing a couple of stints in different types of law firm to get some kind of comparison, e.g. one week in a commercial law firm and another in a high street solicitor's office.

There’s a website on this you might find useful called the “Art of Law” which goes into things like work experience, study techniques and how to get a job as a solicitor or barrister: http://www.the-art-of-law.co.uk/. Also check out the Law Society websites for advice and info on entering into the profession.
