Work Experience In Theatre

Darryl Said:

Work Experience?

We Answered:

Without any detail regarding programs offered, your focus seems to regard Production, in which case a theater technology program is one avenue I'd advise.

Does MORE experience as an SM, mean you have SOME? OR an ASM?

I truly have no clue as to those theaters, but you can inquire as to whether or not they have an SM/ASM on staff, or do they accept those positions brought in by a particular company, using their own.

For an actual placement, one should consider that they have, or need specific experience. Theater in a professional sense is not a "training" situation per say, nor even a work in progress situation.

Considering that production schedules are time restrictive, well ordered, and pretty tight, with regard to the venue, or the play, which likely has to be scheduled for ticket sales, etc. YOU might be able to find internships, but should still have a resume of experiences, related.

You can send an inquiry to an SM or ASM, but better might be to the Production manager, or general manager, or general director, or to all the above.
