Work Experience Letters

Darren Said:

How can I get work experience in a hospital?

We Answered:

I tried getting work experience in hospitals when I was in year 10, 11 and when I was doing my A Levels. But they all told me that it was inappropriate.

The best thing to do is try getting work experience in nursing homes

Barry Said:

what should i include in a work experience letter?

We Answered:

Think of your educational background and anything that might be relevant to making you look like a good candidate for the job; volunteer work, extracurricular activities, sports, hobbies, classes, knowing a foreign language, belonging to a civic organication, and interests.

Describe what you have learned and gained in the experiences and sell it. Use positive words like led, organized, wrote, directed, supervised, etc.

The letter should never be more than one page but that one page should intrigue the reader with your competence, skills, and smarts.

Write clear sentences that give an overview of your qualifications (like organized, enthusiastic, motivated, etc). Keep related items together so the employer doesn't jump from one concept to another. Mention some personal traits or special skills but keep them relevant to the job for which you're applying.

Make sure your letter includes contact information like your name, address, phone number, and e-mail.

Most and foremost, mention your desire to work for the company or organization you're applying to.

Make a resume of all your experiences and include it with your letter. It doesn't have to be all about your work experience (specially if you don't have any). Your resume should include work experience (if any), educational background, hobbies, awards or recognitions, organizations or clubs you are part of, volunteer work (if any) and a list of your skills (for example: public speaking, organizing, leading a team, writing, 50 wpm, computer and internet proficient, etc)
