There are heaps of newspapers and magazines and TV stations in Sydney, just find them and give them a call. First decide if you want to be a TV or radio journalist, or a newspaper journalist and find the appropriate companies, call them (you usually talk to someone in staffing or PR) and ask if you can do some work experience for them.
If they say no, then just call another place. It's not a hard thing to do, just time consuming. If you are nervous then try writing down what you are going to say before you call.

Well firstly if you want to gain anything educational out of this work experience, ask yourself what you want to be doing when you finish school, and maybe choose something in that area, so you get a bit of an idea of what it would be like working in that field.

I am actually in year 11, and just finished work experience at prime (the tv station) and learnt about media, and editing and directing and stuff, I got so much out of it and thats what i want to do now.

So my advice, do something that interests you and try to have fun :)

Unless you have contacts TV is impossible and approaches must be made by the end of Jan at the latest.
Hannah Barberra used to take some students, don't know if they still do. Look them up, ring and ask.
Psychology is difficult and usually you have to be a senior student. Contact you "local area health area" (see phone book or ask at the hospital). They will have contacts with mental health units who may assist.

if your struggling to find a suitable place to do your work experience ask your school for a hand finding a place, if you get in there early you should be given a great spot
