I want to work in the fashion industry but have to experience in the industry itself what can I do to progress

The first thing you need to do is research the companies that you want to work for.
Then contact their recruiter or human resources and tell them that you want to work for them, what your background is and what you would like to do. They will be able to direct you as to what your entry position target should be. Trust me big retailers like this are always looking for new people and talent! Its a plus if you can get a part time job in one of their B&M stores to get your foot in the door. Many retailers will pay you to go to school to earn a degree that can advance you in their company.

One word of advice, working on a retailers website is nothing like working in the fashion industry. You have virtually no contact with the merchandise or ideas behind it. You pretty much just run the electronic side of managing orders and such. If you can get on with a smaller company you would have more contact with the fashion world. Also, fashion magazines have websites and their editors and contributors have much more hands on contact.

Best Wishes to you, and be persistent!!
