Work Experience Scotland

Kenneth Said:

Do you think CID would take me on for Work Experience ( im from Scotland )?

We Answered:

With a name like RoboCop, they would be bound to welcome you with eagerness.

Seriously though, the best way to find out is to ask them, and since work placement is presumably arranged through your school, and they would probably have to make the necessary arrangements, why not speak to your teachers or head teacher about this. ?

They can enquire on your behalf, and you would also be going through the proper channels, which is something you would need to learn to do if you did ever join the police.

People in positions of authortity don't like the people in their charge short circuiting the system, so talk to your teachers about this.

I seem to recall that some police forces used to have cadet branches for young people who were interested in a future career in the police, don't know if that's still the case, but your teachers can probably answer that.

BTW - Isn't it time for you to get to sleep. ?

Joe Said:

Can you be a Summer Intern in Local Government in Scotland, or get work experience?

We Answered:

It is fairly straightforward. Send councils letters explaining that you would would like to do a work experience placement.

Donald Said:

moving to scotland, how do I get a work visa?

We Answered:

Here is a link to the UK's Home Office website with info on work permits. Depending on your skillset your best bet may be the "Highly Skilled Migrant Programme"

Joan Said:

Interesting place ot work for work experience?

We Answered:

depends what you want to do? dont just go for anything, do something you are interested in. when applying to college/uni etc it can help alot knowing that you were interested enough to decide to experience in that area.
just phone round companies that do the job you want to do. ive done 4 placements so far and loads of people have been interested. its pretty awkward to ask, but it gives the company a good name if they do it.

Carmen Said:

After Work Experience Its Definetly Sparked On What I Want To Be!?

We Answered:

Sorry - I can only half answer your question as I don't understand the Scotish system.

Following whatever pre university education you have up there, you have two routes:
- A BEd (a degree in education - 4 years I think)
or
- Any degree, followed by a one year PGCE.

Both are equally valid and neither is favoured over the other.

Best of luck to you!
