Depending on where you live, you could find out if there is a fashion designer working in your general area and then write a very pleading letter to see if they'll let you shadow them for a week. There are loads in the bigger towns, google 'fashion designer' and the name of your town/county.

Alternatively, write to the different colleges that offer courses in fashion related studies and see if you could attend classes and shadow students for a week or two. Most schools will allow this instead of actually working, as it is directly related to your career interests. Just make sure you get a mentor, a student or tutor in the college, to fill in the paperwork you need done for your TY portfolio.

If you're still stuck, look for a week in a big department store with their buyer. Failing that, a local boutique would probably be best.
