Work Experience Vic

Dave Said:

I HAVE TO DO WORK EXPERIENCE! where would be a good place in VIC or NSW with this style of work...?

We Answered:

TV week is a popular magazine.
or Dolly , because they have fashion just like vogue magazine.
When calling , let them know u are work experience. they have to pay u little to nothing but u would like it because thats what u want to do in future and would like an inside view of things.
Im sure they would more than oblige considering they would be getting cheap labour just so u can get an inside view of the inner workings of the company.

Wendy Said:

I need some career advice regarding work experience?

We Answered:

Firstly, I don't think work experience counts for everything. In many big companies today, it is the skills/qualities of a person that count the most in the recruitment process. Many interviewers/ firm partners say that 'skills we can teach, but attitude we can't teach'. Thats not to say that experience is not important. But if you can show instances where you have applied those fundamental skills (teamwork, communication, leadership etc), then I think your prospects are good. So I think it is best if you talk to your careers staff, then describe projects etc that you have worked on. By doing this, you can acknowledge the development of those core competencies that are important to employers.
- Think of instances where you have provided leadership.
- Think of instances where your contribution made a difference.
- Think of instances where you have worked well in a team

I'm graduating this year with a commerce degree. I applied successfully for Graduate programs with several big firms in the industry. Similar to your situation, I didn't have any relevant work experience. But by making the most of my existing experiences, I pulled it off. I have 2 big companies to choose from. I wish you the same luck as I had.

Cassandra Said:

what should i do for work experience?

We Answered:

Whatever you like. I didn't know what I wanted to do for years after school...
I gather you mean 'in to'. And it's 'too quickly', not 'to quick' Get the habit of checking things before you submit them...that is a tip for getting a job later on!!

So anyway, I suggest; Blockbusters, Supre, The Warehouse, Cinemas, make up shop or Diva or something similar. Don't strain over it if you don't know what your career is going to be anyway. Just choose something that you will enjoy for the 2 weeks (or however long).

Russell Said:

I'm in year nine work experience here in Vic, and interested in science. Where can I go?

We Answered:

The CSIRO often takes students for work experience as do science depts of most universities. You could also try pharmaceutical companies (such as Res Med). Companies that produce consumer goods, such as food products cleaning materials etc, often have quality control labs. These organisations may be worth contacting too.
