Freddie Said:
Agency employed temporary staff : Do normal employee reduction selection rules apply? We Answered:
Sorry but it sounds legal (even if unethical!). The company can treat all contracts separately and decide which ones to terminate without any recourse for the employees. They probably decided on money as the experienced ones may have been more expensive, or may have had other reasons - they do not have to tell you why, as you are not directly their staff.
Technically the agency could appeal if they felt something was really wrong, but as they want more contracts with that company, chances are they won't - in any case they still get their commission and probably will be happy as it's easier to find new posts for experienced workers.
So apart for leaving all the staff with a bad feeling (and placing the poor new guys in a bad situation, even if they have done nothing wrong themselves), there's nothing to do in that case.
If you get on well with your manager (not the agency one), you could always ask calmly, you never know, they might surprise you with a very good reason you never thought about.
